Born in 1994 in Transylvania, Zalán Ilyés studied Film, Photography and Media at Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania in Cluj. Since 2016 he has been working as a photojournalist intern at the daily newspaper, Szabadság, in Cluj. In 2017, one of his works was selected for the Sony Word Photography Awards and exhibited at Somerset House in London. He is a member of Random Gallery. In 2023 he won 3rd prize in the Hungarian Press Photography, in the portrait category.
